Chelsey Lee Gaddy was born in Asheville, NC in 1984, and she has spent her life sharing her passion for performance art. Whether singing, acting, or teaching, she always feels most at home when entertaining others. Chelsey's accomplishments have surpassed expectations since her graduation from Clyde A. Erwin High School in 2002 where an award is named in her honor. "The Chelsey Award" is a scholarship presented yearly to the student who shows the most outstanding dedication and success in all forms of performance. Chelsey has obtained her BFA in Musical Theatre from Mars Hill College, and is currently writing her thesis for her MFA in Acting from Florida Atlantic University.
Chelsey has worked for various professional venues, and was featured in Dollywood Entertainment's Christmas on Ice, the first figure skating and live singing show at Dollywood. She has been nominated twice for the IAAPA award for Best Female Entertainer by Dollywood, and in 2010, Chelsey and the Gemtones/Silvertones won the International award for "Best Street Atmosphere Group". In 2012, Chelsey was back at her very first Dollywood home, The Penguin Players. These children's musicals are in partnership with Dolly's Imagination Library charity, and were the recipients of the 2012 IAAPA Award for Best Edutainment Show. Working part time at the Great Smoky Mountain Murder Mystery Dinner Show, Chelsey has had the opportunity to play many different comedic characters, including her favorite actress, Lucille Ball.
In 2014, Chelsey moved back to her hometown of Asheville, NC and has been taking the theatre scene by storm. Finding her niche with many different theaters in town, Chelsey has starred in shows with Attic Salt Theatre Company, Montford Park Players, Haywood Arts Regional Theatre, and her old college home, Southern Appalachian Repertory Theatre, to name a few.
